Earth Day!

Earth day is coming soon! What better way to celebrate than with an online virtual field trip around the world! Your students will love watching these fun Earth day videos and participating in some fun hands on activities.

With everyone switching to online learning for these last few months of school many teachers are scrambling for good resources to share with their students. I compiled a few of my favorites to create this virtual field trip. Students will explore videos from Discovery Education and National Geographic. When they are done they can use the online links to take them through creating their own recycled seed garden....my children's favorite. You can see how fast ours has taken off!
Within the virtual field trips I add links for read-alouds, science and art activities. One of my favorites is a recycled art project. That uses newspaper and watercolors to create an Earth. This pairs well with Earth day writing activities. You can check out the step by step on our Earth Day post from a few years ago.
My students are so excited to get started on their virtual field trip this week. I can't wait to see what they take away from their experience. As a Fun Friday activity you might give this nature painting a try. My daughter was inspired by the dandelions that dot our yard. She drew the dandelions and traced them with sharpie, added some watercolors and viola an instant Earth Day fave!
